God’s Time is no Coincidence
God’s Timing
Time and time again I have had moments in my life where I look back and say to my self, “that was all in God’s perfect timing.” Whether good or bad. God’s time.
Like the butterfly effect… Ever take your mind down the road of what would’ve been had you done just one thing different years ago? My husband and I like to play the “what if” game sometimes just to see what may have been.
We do always come back around and thank God for how things went (even the sour moments) because it brought US together and we are soooo grateful for it.
Obviously I don’t recommend going down a negative rabbit hole of regret, but it can be kind of fun just to say “what if”, or “THANK GOODNESS” I did what I did.
Seasons of Life
We all go through seasons of life, like the busy season bouncing between school, dance lessons, sports practice, church, gathering with friends, going on hikes, homework, cooking supper, one on one time with each kid, the occasional date night to In-n-Out Burger with the hubby (our go-to date night), etc.
As well as the seasons that just feel slow. Stagnant in our careers, the days that just don’t seem to end, when it feels you cannot get ahead in finances, or that you’ll be stuck in this season forever.
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Monday, Saturday, Friday, It all blends together. When you don’t even look forward to the extracurricular activities because it all becomes too much.
And what do we do in both of those seasons? More times than not, we wish for the other season to show back up. Then we promise ourselves that when it just slows down a little, or when it speeds back up, then that is when we will do x,y,z.
We wait for that “when” moment to live the life we want to live. To do the things we want to do.
When the kids are out of school. When work slows down. When I have enough PTO. When the weather cools off.
We may not notice God moving in those times. We may not even acknowledge what He did during those days until years down the road.
How can we become more aware of what God is doing RIGHT NOW?
Continuous prayer and spending intentional time in His Holy Word sure could help.
Now I know what you’re thinking… even in those seasons where you wake up before the little humans to grab some coffee, your bible and journal, sometimes you still don’t feel that connection or see/understand what He is doing. That is okay.
He will use that special time that you allotted for Him.
He is still intricately working in your life. I promise you that. I would not be writing this if I didn’t whole-heartedly believe it either.
This Season
This is a completely new season of life for me. No I did not just have a baby or get married. I have not been able to work as a nurse for nearly seven months due to an unexpected medical issue.
During this season we are still unaware as to what is fully going on. We have been able to rule out some possibilities yet still are trying to find answers.
I am getting the opportunity to learn how to:
1. Be Still.
2. Know who God is and TRUST in Him.
*Bonus (3. Not have mom guilt if I let my daughter watch Bubble Guppies one more time, if that means I get to sit and rest for another 20 minutes. I look at it as self care. Ha!)
I had an incredible conversation with a coworker recently, (whom I miss dearly as I haven’t seen her in almost seven months). As us women do, we chatted about everything under the sun, and then God intervened and spoke right through her.
She explained how she is reading this book and it talks about these seasons in our life. How during each season God is trying to teach us something. He is trying to whisper in our ear.
But we have to allow Him to.
In order to hear the whispers, maybe we should drown out the noise of negativity, and open our hearts and our ears to what He is saying.
Sometimes as humans we think that we need to be doing everything except what we are doing. That isn’t the case with God. He wants us to be present in the moments.
To cherish what we are doing and how we are doing it. Right now.
The words she spoke just verified for me in my heart that I absolutely need to just BE STILL in HIS PRESENCE during this time of uncertainty.
This is something I have been praying for and when she said that she just felt she needed to tell me about this book, I simply felt God. Fair and square, there is no other explanation for that.
I don’t know when or if I will be able to return to work as a nurse on our busy floor. I don’t know if there will be a career change.
I don’t know if this is God’s way of getting me out of bedside nursing.
I don’t know if He is protecting me from something that may have occurred at work.
I don’t know if He just knew in His heart that this Mama’s heart hurt every time she had to drop her baby off to school knowing I wouldn’t see her until just before bed.
I don’t’ know if this is His way of showing me I need to trust Him deeper.
I don’t know if I was too preoccupied with other things in this world that I just needed to slow down and focus more on MY family, MY house, MY God.
Maybe, just maybe, He wants me to BE STILL.
What I do know is that God is so very good. He has always blown me away at what He has done in my life and when He touches my heart, things happen and man are they beautiful.
He perfectly knits together all of our experiences to bring glory to His name.
I know I serve a wonderful God and His Timing is ALWAYS PERFECT. Always.
“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalms 46:10
Thank you, God for that phone call.
Ladies, if you ever feel a tug on your heart to tell a friend or family member something uplifting, I’d highly encourage you to just do it.
Do it right then and there. Or make yourself a note to do it later that day.
Text, call, write a letter. Whatever you need to do, don’t hold back those thoughts or ideas that come through your head.
Your people deserve to know those things. I promise God will use it when you speak truth into people’s lives.
I know that in the past I have thought about someone or an aha moment that I could’ve shared with them but didn’t because I felt like I couldn’t get my words perfectly aligned or that it wouldn’t make sense. Missed opportunity…
I have also had those moments where something comes to me and I just go for it, shot them a text or made their phone ring to share what was on my heart in that moment.
Even when I didn’t have the words, God did. He makes things happen ya’ll.
Be a part of that butterfly effect for them to have a better day. You never know what a difference you can make.
Surely you have had those times too where you reached out and that person expressed that that was exactly what they needed right then. Hey-o! You and God make a great team!
Be Still,
Bri
