God’s Time is no Coincidence
God’s Timing Time and time again I have had moments in my life where I look back and say to my self, “that was all in God’s perfect timing.” Whether good or bad. God’s time. Like the butterfly effect… Ever take your mind down the road of what would’ve been had you done just one thing different years ago? My husband and I like to play the “what if” game sometimes just to see what may have been. We do always come back around and thank God for how things went (even the sour moments) because it brought US together and we are soooo grateful for it. Obviously I don’t…

When Was the Last Time You Felt Protected?
The other night I had a simple, yet profound epiphany. What if we ran and clung to God the way that our children run and cling to us when faced with fear? Our three year old was extremely restless and cried out for me in her room the other night after we laid her down to go to bed. This is an unusual thing for her to do and so I went in her room to see what was wrong. As soon as I got to the edge of her bed, she grabbed onto my neck and held on tight. I mean tight. Her whole body was tense, and there…

Parenting Hack: You Will Miss the Echoes. Embrace Them Now.
Ever catch yourself saying to your kids to “calm down a little bit” or “inside voices” too much? Where you feel like you are constantly nagging at them to chill out? As of lately, I decided to try to take a step back and just see what happens when I don’t chime in the moment their voices get too loud. Crazy. It got crazy, y’all. Our friend brought their two kids over today and all four of the kids really like to play together-its really quite nice. And chaotic. But you know what? I’m going to let them be little. And in the process, I am going to SOAK IT…

5 Reasons to Let Your Child Play in the Dirt
The weather is finally cooling off in Phoenix, AZ! WOO-HOO. For our family that means spending as much possible time out doors at our little homestead. Ya’ll we are always up to some sort of shenanigans. So if you’re ever bored, come on over! As we live in the desert, you may have guessed that our property is primarily DIRT. Two dogs, two children, eight chickens, and one husband later, I have officially accepted that you might just find dirt in every nook and cranny of our home. A little dirt never hurt anyone. Some people may cringe at the amount of dirt that gets dumped out of the little…

Stop Waiting for the “Right Time.” Our Time is Now.
How long have you waited on the “Right time?” Ya’ll I feel that the worldly side of us feeds our heads with excuse after excuse. Causing our hearts and our heads to be misaligned. Especially for what we consider the “BIG stuff”, i.e. career change, marriage, children, going back to school, getting more involved at church, taking two weeks off of work for self care, signing the kids up for clubs, and the list goes on and on. My thing right now? Figuring out what in the world blogging is capable of here in the middle of 2020. So I finally started. I am here typing out thoughts that pass…

Littles Eyes in God’s View
That woman who boldly wears the armor of Christ. Who might not even realize it. The woman who is the strongest I know. Your mother might be this in your eyes too. What a blessing! I see you in all of God’s glory, Mama. As I watched my mother and brother dance at his wedding to “Humble & Kind”, the emotions were real. I was overwhelmed with how incredible my mother truly is. The lyrics in that song are so fitting for her. My big brother loves that woman so stinkin’ much too and it is clear as day that he is beyond grateful for all that she has done…

Ditch the Resentment
Seriously, run from resentment like your life depends on it. Demand that it gets out of your heart. It creates a dark pit inside of you full of negativity. Even for those of us who have good relationships with our stepchild’s other parent, we all have those moments… The moments I am talking about are the ones of bitterness. However, I have a little life hack to share with you regarding that. Hang tight. When going through a rough patch, sometimes our heads get the best of us and rob us of any joy we have. Let’s avoid that cycle of negativity. Have you ever caught yourself getting frustrated with…

Step Out of the Routine
A little spontaneous activity was just the thing this family needed to lift us up. The other night as we finished eating supper, my stepdaughter asked if we could go drive around the desert in the “Big Red Truck”. We call this “Big Red Truck”, “The 83”. It’s a square body, 1983 GMC Sierra that my husband bought for $200 out of someone’s pasture back home in Kansas. HELLO small town America! We are building it into a big rock crawler so we can go on some neat off-road adventures. It currently doesn’t have its front axle in as he is swapping it-amongst just about ever other thing you can…
